This blog is really about Citizenship education, but at our school we teach Citizenship alongside Learning to Learn and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE). We combine these into a subject we call Power Up! So this post is really about what we call Personal Power aka PSHE.
During Anti-Bullying Week our students identified cyber-bullying (bullying using the Internet, social networking sites, mobile phones etc), as the most common form of bullying they face, and so we’ve been showing them a great film on cyber bullying in our lessons this week. The film has really caught their attention and led to some very engaged and emotional discussions, so I thought I’d share it. The film is on YouTube and is broken into 6 sections, each 15 minutes long. Here’s the first section, and once you’ve watched it, you can find the link to the subsequent sections.
Our Year 9 students have been making Citizenship films, and some of them have also been on the theme of bullying. Here’s one I particularly like.
