Building Campaigning Skills

February 23, 2011

For me, Citizenship education is really all about helping young people build the knowledge, skills and confidence to campaign for change.

The film below shows a lesson with our Year 7 students, who are campaigning to make Bexley a Fairtrade borough.

The aim of the lesson was to build their campaigning skills. If you don’t have time to watch the whole film, skip to 7.27mins to find out what students learned.

The best Citizenship learning occurs where students take genuine Citizenship action, using their Citizenship skills and applying their Citizenship knowledge. I hope that’s what this lesson achieved.
