One of the first things we did was to run class competitions for students in Years 7, 8 & 9 to design their own Power Up! Good News postcards. By ‘Good News’ postcards, I mean the postcards you send home to inform parents when a student has done particularly well.
It was a nice project to start off the year, because it helped students grasp what Power Up! is all about, and it got them involved straight away in a project with a real purpose and outcome.
We shortlisted the best postcard design from each class, uploaded the shortlist to our school Intranet, and the students then voted for their favourite. We’ve got the winning postcards professionally printed – which doesn’t cost much if you use a company like this. Now we send them home every time one of our students are brilliant!
